Phillip Hawksley is Managing Director of Hawksley Constructions Pty Ltd and has been actively involved in the building industry for more than thirty years. 

Initially, Phillip completed a four year apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery in 1976 while employed by J & T Gunn Pty Ltd, in Launceston, Tasmania. 

Wishing to expand his horizons and further his career, he travelled to Perth, Western Australia, where the building industry was booming at the time. Here he gained invaluable expertise in both major commercial construction and housing while operating as a building contractor and supervisor for a number of companies, including Multiplex Pty Ltd, Jobec Pty Ltd and various private clients. During this period he commenced study to obtain his building licenses, amongst numerous other courses, before forming his own building company under the name of Hawksley Constructions. 

Although business was thriving, he made a decision in 1985 to return to Launceston to be closer to his family. Due to the lack of introductory contacts in the building industry, following his absence from Tasmania for nine years, he began operating as a sub-contractor and project manager. Two years later, once his expertise was recognised by professional members of the industry, he began operations again as Hawksley Constructions Pty Ltd. He became well known for providing quality in all aspects of the industry, which led to the receipt of a number of prestigious awards and respected recognition from his peers.

In 1999 Phillip and his family relocated to the Gold Coast, in Queensland, to take advantage of his qualifications, including building licences, which were of little value in Tasmania due to the lack of builders licensing or registration in that State. Due to Phillips' high expectations for providing the client with quality in service and workmanship he has now established a business recognised on the Gold Coast for its reputation of providing the type of quality projects that he is capable of producing.

Phillip continues to operate Hawksley Constructions in Tasmania under the management of a long term employee. However, due to his remoteness, only minor projects and maintenance, for established clients, is currently undertaken.

Phillip Hawksley is skilled in a wide spectrum of building techniques encompassing a plethora of building methods and styles. For this reason Hawksley Constructions has attracted a select group of regular clients, including; Telstra Australia, Airservices Australia, Wormald (Tyco), Transfield, Tasmania Police, Trollope Silverwood & Beck, Kilpatrick Green and numerous other respected companies and private clients who set a strict criteria and require professionalism, integrity and expertise on a regular basis.

Hawksley Constructions is currently an active member of the Housing Industry Association and the Master Builders Association of Queensland. Prior to moving interstate, while a member of Master Builders Association Tasmania, Phillip had been elected annually to the Management Committee of the Northern Division for a period of seven years. 

Phillip believes that Hawksley Constructions' computer based operations are state of the art and he personally administers the project management, accounts, estimation, and peripherals such as this web site, all on the latest computer software.
