The clients brief required the design and total refurbishment of the dated unit in this upmarket
complex.
The client was residing in Tennant Creek and only made one brief visit to site, during
construction. However despite this inconvenience, no problems were encountered.
The entire interior of the unit was stripped bare, including the bathroom, kitchen, ensuite,
laundry, bedrooms, living rooms etc.
A wall dividing the separate toilet and bathroom was removed to make one large area. A
lockable textured glass screen was installed between the new spa and toilet areas,
The ensuite was stripped and fitted out in a similar fashion to the bathroom,
using granite bench tops, 2-pac cupboards, frameless shower screen, quality tiles and ceramic and
chrome fixtures.
The laundry was also fitted out using
similar components. The existing kitchen was very enclosed and had little room to move. It was decided to open it up by removing a wall
dividing the kitchen/dining areas and a large
cupboard
unit housing the wall oven.
The new kitchen consisted of 2-pac cabinetry with granite benchtops, quality stainless
steel “Miele” appliances including extras such as a garbage compactor, steamer, microwave /convection oven and separate microwave and an induction cook top.
A ducted vacuum system was installed in the hot water system cupboard and outlets are accessible
throughout the unit.
The walk-in robe was stripped and fitted with new shelving and drawers. Wool carpet was carefully selected to blend with the new decor. Large free standing
wall units were designed and constructed with a 2-pac finish. Glass shelving was used with L/V lighting to illuminate all visible display areas. All furniture, fittings and
linen etc, including outdoor furniture and planters, were selected prior to the arrival of the client.
Despite the quality of fittings it was found, following a valuation, that the money had been well
spent. There is actually now more equity in the apartment than prior to the renovation.
