The client required the total redevelopment of the restaurant interior, bar area,
restaurant exterior and front block of motel units.
Hawksley Constructions were commissioned to provide
design proposals and feasibilities. These were accepted without change and Hawksley
Constructions were then requested to undertake construction. The client brief was to
modernise the dated building on a restricted budget. Hawksley Constructions proposal
included removing the old timber windows and replacing these
with new full height aluminium windows to take advantage of the magnificent views of the
City Park below. The exterior was treated with Grano-impact following the
application of cement sheet to the timber frame and render to the brick areas.
Numerous minor works were also completed to provide the neat, clean lines of a
contemporary building. Internally, the old painted timber finishes were removed, including
vertical clad timber walls and timber balustrade etc. A new aluminium and glass balustrade
was installed and a complete wall was clad with mirrors. This was done to create a feeling
of increased space. Special paint effects were also used to further enhance this concept. |
